TTC Zone Fares

A transit fare that varies depending on distance traveled has become an increasingly talked about subject surrounding the TTC. This type of system was once standard in the early days of Toronto's transit system. Different fare zones were defined by concentric circles that extended from downtown Toronto. The amount charged to a customer was based on the number of zones travelled. Using the fare zones from a 1954 TTC Guide, I overlayed them on top of the TTC's modern bus, streetcar, and subway routes to see how these classic zones would translate into today's transit network.
